Maria J Pinto is not only the founder and president of Naked Natural Alternative but also the visionary behind Industrial Strength LLC, the world’s leading manufacturer of body piercing needles. With over 30 years of dedication to the body piercing and tattoo community, Maria’s journey began when she recognized the need for natural alternatives in skincare to heal tattoos and body piercings.
Starting humbly in her family’s hypodermic needle manufacturing facility, Maria honed her skills from an early age before launching her own factory in 1995. Her love for body piercings and tattoos sparked her passion for creating effective healing solutions that existing products couldn’t deliver. In 2005, she began experimenting with small batches of Naked products, specifically tailored for tattoos and body piercings. Maria’s approach was hands-on and full of humor; when clients asked about using her products on specific areas, she’d often joke, “I’ll let you know in two days.” She’d first test them on herself, and once they passed with flying colors, she’d give everyone the all-clear.
Her success was a true labor of love, driven by her dedication to all-natural botanicals and clean, toxin-free formulations. Supported by her “dream team” of friends and family—who eagerly volunteered as test subjects—Maria ensured that no animals were harmed in her quest for perfect skincare.
As feedback poured in with comments like, “Hey, this soap works great on my face,” “Wow, this lotion helps with my eczema,” and “The salve smooths my ‘angry’ 11’s,” Maria realized Naked had far surpassed her initial vision. The brand evolved into a daily skincare line for pierced, tattooed, and bare skin, now found in studios, healthcare and dental offices, as well as homes across the country and abroad. Naked has become synonymous with simple, clean, and effective products.
